1

On May 5-15, 2026, 14 delegates representing ONCF Morocco, TRANSTU Tunisia, Tunisia's Ministry of Transport, Tunisia's Ministry of Finance, and Tunisia's Ministry of Economy and Planning participated in a knowledge exchange to South Korea, on the margins of Korea Green Innovation Days (KGID 2026)hosted by Seoul Urban Solutions Agency (SUSA) in coordination with Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The visit was structured around four thematic areas:

  • The first covered integrated public transport management, featuring a joint session with an Egyptian transport delegation and a presentation by Seoul Metropolitan Government's Transport Policy Division, complemented by visits to the TOPIS control center and Seoul Metro Line 9 Depot.
  • The second focused on urban rail infrastructure, including an overview of Seoul's rail network, a ride on the newly operational GTX-A line, and a visit to the Jamsil Metropolitan Transfer Center.
  • The third addressed AFCS and fare policy, with a lecture by UI Networks CEO Sunghoon Cho on the evolution of Seoul's ticketing and fare systems, followed by a visit to T-Money's headquarters and system testing center.
  • The fourth covered high-speed rail operations through a visit to KORAIL's metropolitan-area depot and maintenance facility.

Beyond these four themes, the exchange included a full-day multimodal field visit led by SUSA to Seoul Station Bus Transfer Center and Yeouido Transfer Center, a meeting between the Moroccan delegation and ITS Korea, and a workshop held at Seoul City Hall.

The knowledge exchange generated strong interest from both delegations in Korea's integrated fare system, particularly the T-Money interoperability architecture and the coordination between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and private operators. Site visits to the TOPIS control centre, T-Money facility, and KORAIL depot were highlighted as especially valuable illustrations of smart ticketing and rail operations with potential applicability to local contexts.
