Grant Activities

Project Summary:

A key purpose of this grant is to support the selection of appropriate technologies and the establishment of institutional systems to integrate public transport fares and ticketing in Morocco and Tunisia.

Some of the major barriers to the introduction of integrated ticketing systems in the region include a lack of technical expertise and institutional coordination. The systematic approach to designing and implementing an effective urban mobility solution should, therefore, be informed in Tunisia, where discussions on a new urban transport operation are still in their early stages.

The transition to electronic smart ticketing will create opportunities to improve the transport inclusion of marginalized groups.

This grant is closely aligned with the strategic priorities of the World Bank Group and will directly support the new lending operation for the Greater Casablanca Mobility and Logistics Hub (CasaHub) IBRD investment operation (P500964).
