Grant Activities

Project Summary:

The objective of this grant is to provide analytical and advisory support to enhance plastics circularity in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, while addressing climate resilience in the Philippine fisheries sector.

The grant is split across two main activities:

Activity 1 — Smart Recycling Hub in Thailand: This focuses on developing a viable business model for a "smart recycling hub" for food-grade recycled plastics in the Food & Beverage sector. It includes implementing traceability systems, recycled content certification, and establishing a Center of Excellence database under Thailand's Ministry of Industry.

Activity 2 — EPR Knowledge Transfer in the Philippines: This supports implementation of the Philippines' Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act through capacity building, workshops, and a study tour to Korea, where stakeholders can observe Korea's operational EPR systems and plastic waste management facilities.

Key Outputs: Business model study reports, a plastic recycling database structure, and at least six virtual training workshops.
