Fostering Green Growth in Eswatini through Water-Related Nature-Based Solutions

Project Summary:

The grant aims to identify targeted investments in nature-based solutions (NbS) that promote water security and leverage private sector finance to foster green growth in Eswatini, a water-stressed country vulnerable to droughts and floods.

It is organized around three activities:

• Situational Analysis of NbS assesses existing NbS types, implementation gaps, and needs in Eswatini, with a report expected by April 2026.
• Options Analysis Study determines the economic returns, technical feasibility, and financing options for NbS investments with a focus on job creation and private sector participation, including a technical study tour to Korea expected by January 2027.
• Financial Risk-Based Approach explores how NbS can reduce climate-related water risks for the financial sector and reviews innovative private investment models.
