Established in 1962, Korea’s Rural Development Administration (RDA) has led the transformation of South Korea’s agricultural sector, from a country once grappling with food insecurity to a global leader in agricultural innovation. As South Korea’s premier agricultural research institution, RDA has developed science-based solutions that improve crop productivity, strengthen food systems, and enhance rural livelihoods.
Today, through its partnership with the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF) and the World Bank, RDA is sharing these proven best practices with countries around the world and helping governments build climate-resilient agriculture, adopt green technologies, and achieve sustainable development goals.
In this interview, RDA administrator Jaehan Kwon shares how RDA contributes to public health through activities like plant breeding, quality innovation, and digital-based agriculture technologies.
