Grant Activities

Project Summary:

The grant aims to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and safety for public transport users in Kandy, while establishing a long-term strategic vision for sustainable urban development. It draws on principles such as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), smart infrastructure, and green space integration.

The grant expects to deliver a long-term green urban mobility strategy, strengthened government capacity in green growth management, and lasting partnerships with Korean institutions and global smart city leaders.

The grant is organized around three activities:

  • Developing strategic solutions for green urban mobility, resulting in a comprehensive recommendations report.
  • Translates recommendations (from bullet above) into an implementation action plan and a bankable investment package.
  • Knowledge exchange and dissemination through stakeholder workshops, capacity building, and a study tour.

This grant is aligned as follows:

  • Complements the World Bank funded project by bringing assessment, studies and evidence for accessibility, efficiency and safety in public transport and linking it with broader city planning objectives.
