Project Summary:
The development objective of thePASA grant is to inform the preparation and/or implementation of Government plan/policy options and/or investment lending from the World Bank or development partners. The PASA will pave the way for World Bank energy lending and extractive technical assistance operations, whose implementation is expected to help the Pacific Island Countries and Papua New Guinea increase the affordability, resiliency, reliability, and sustainability of the energy and extractive sectors.
The grant will contribute to inform PIC Government’s plans on energy efficiency and e-mobility.
List of Activities:
- Establish e-mobility enabling environment
- Regional energy efficiency (EE) program
- Identifying potential EE projects
Outcomes:
- Deep-dive report on PIC e-mobility.
- Regional workshop on e-mobility in PIC.
- Advise PIC governments on plans and policies for deploying e-mobility with country-tailored analysis of feasibility, economic viability, and environmental impacts
Collaboration with K-Partners and Others:
Korean partner, KEA will provide in-kind support by sharing its experience on energy audit. In addition, extra funding from PCREEE is discussed to expand the outreach of the workshop and interact with larger audiences. The team will also engage other regional organizations such as SPC and PPA to scale up the EE initiative and/or inform other parts of the Pacific.
